He drove past the deputies’ house, surprised to see numerous lights on at such an early hour of the day. Although he was tempted to park his car down the block, walk back to their property to find out what was going on by peeking in a window or two, he kept right on driving. Deputies patrolled the surrounding county and the town all hours of the day of the night, and he didn’t want to get caught. If the cops started asking questions, his boss was sure to find out and he could kiss his life goodbye.

He’d done some research on the Kyson brothers and had their shift schedules memorized. There was going to be times when that bitch was alone, and he’d be able to make his move.

By the time he was done with her, she’d be singing like a canary. When he had the packages he was hightailing it as far away from this small town as he could. The boss could just send someone else in his stead to do all his dirty work. There was no way in hell he was stepping foot back into Slick Rock, because he had a feeling if he did, he wouldn’t make it out of the place alive.
